Welcome to Montreal

Montreal is my hometown and I have always enjoyed going there. It is North America’s most cosmopolitan city with distinct neighbourhoods. Growing up there allows one to have a much wider world view and the city has a vibrance and ambience. Montrealers are a very different breed of people. No one who has ever visited the city with a Montreal native fails to fall completely in love with the place. They always leave a little different after spending a few days there and always longing to return.

It also has the best food of any city I have ever visited.

Being only three hours away allows me to visit a few times a year and there is nothing like walking the old neighbourhood.

Here are just a few pics of recent trips to Montreal.

A view of downtown from the Delta Hotel looking toward the Place Ville Marie

Another view from the Delta looking down.

Old Montreal and the outdoor cafes. Busy in the summertime, these are great during the off season.

Rick Yuck, my former next door neighbour relaxes at a cafe in Old Montreal. The building behind him dates to the 1700s.

Debbie and Rick take a ride on Montreal’s subway, which makes for one of the most efficient ways to travel in the city. The trains ride on rubber tires, making it smooth and quiet.

Elizabeth Ballentyne School in Montreal West, affectionately known to its inmates as EBS. This is where I attended K to Grade 5. No, no pictures

This is a night view from my room at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel, looking across at the plaza for the Place Ville Marie, a Montreal landmark.
